Why transparency is essential to protect nature and make the world a better place.

Norrøna ambassador and ecologist, Charles Post, peels back the layers of Norrøna’s 2020 road map and explains that if we are to succeed in saving our home planet we need to be transparent, collaborative and take ambitious steps to reduce harm and increase our positive impacts.

We recognize that it’s going to take a groundswell to save our home planet for future generations, and make the world a better, more just and equitable place.

Actions speak louder than words.

For 92 years Norrøna has pursued a mission to create the world’s greatest outdoor products and offer unique adventures through responsible business. While this sentiment speaks volumes about intention, we created a road map to hold us accountable, and show you exactly what steps we are taking to reach our goals, how far we’ve come and where we’re headed.

Transparency is essential. It’s far too easy to talk the talk. Walking the walk is where progress and growth are achieved. Our 2020 road map doesn’t just track our journey to be a 100% responsible company, be better, do better, and have more positive impact, but it also identifies measurable targets and aspects of our business that require improvement and change if we are to meet our ambitious goals. As Jorgen Jorgensen, Norrona’s 4 generation CEO, says, “For us to be credible, we have to be as transparent as possible.”

We recognize that it’s going to take a groundswell to save our home planet for future generations, and make the world a better, more just and equitable place. Our commitment to transparency allows us to collaborate and inspire, grow and synergize across our industry and communities. We are imperfect, and that’s ok. We are on a journey to reduce harm and increase our positive impacts, and we can’t do this alone.

What does success look like? Success will come to life in many ways. We will continue to strive towards being a 100% responsible company, and we will continue to support an industry wide, community driven, global push to protect and take care of our planet for future generations. We know we can’t succeed without others, which is why our road map is accessible to anyone and everyone. The hope is that our road map, lessons learned, successes and progress may inspire others, spark dialogue and foster cooperation. We also recognize the need to maintain a mindset of openness so that we can incorporate new ideas, feedback and perspectives into our practices that may help us grow and improve in all aspects of our business and value chain.

What does success look like? Success will come to life in many ways. We will continue to strive towards being a 100% responsible company, and we will continue to support an industry wide, community driven, global push to protect and take care of our planet for future generations.

Our road map represents the journey to become the best version of ourselves. At Norrøna, we recognize this simple truth: Without nature, there’s no us. We believe the only way to run a company is with a sustainable platform and every day we strive to improve, explore and inspire to protect our home.
Now that our 2020 road map’s journey has been completed, it is only fitting to start our 2029 road map with far more ambitious goals to drive us through to Norrøna’s 100th birthday. We look forward to bringing you along on the journey.
